These are the semi-weekly reflections we have to do for our school:

1. Please outline your timeline to date. What did you plan to have accomplished by this time?
September 22nd 1st Reflection, Mentor Feedback, and Wiki Check
By Sep 26th, we’ll have the details of the electric drive train nailed down.
By Oct 3rd, we should have ordered the parts for the drive train
2. What is your actual progress?
We have decided on all of the parts through calculations of energy density, efficiency, and cost. We have made a physical model of the batteries, and a Google Sketch up model of the bike. We have also started the processes of ordering our batteries from a manufacturer in China.
3. What are your successes so far and what has helped you succeed?
We have found batteries that are within our budget and accomplish our goals of range and speed. Mark found us an amazing deal with a Chinese company, Hipower, and we’re getting batteries at a steep discount.
4. What challenges have you run into so far and how do you plan to overcome them?
Some of the parts we have chosen do not have as much information as we would like. Also, ordering the batteries has been problematic because the people we have been trying to order from have just recently gone on a weeklong vacation.
5. Do you need to make any adjustments to your project or timeline at this point? If so, please outline them in detail and provide an explanation for why these changes are necessary.
We will have to push everything back one week, because ordering the parts is taking longer than expected. However, we included a month long buffer on the end of our project, so we’re not worried yet.
